As a licensed clinical psychologist I offer a compassionate, best practice approach that utilizes empirically supported therapies. I am available to address many concerns, including those that involve anxiety, worry, fear, trauma, stress, sadness, grief. adjustment difficulties, behavioral problems, compulsive behaviors, relationship difficulties, sleep and sex. I typically work with adults and adolescents, and periodically work with children, families, and couples. I also offer diagnostic assessment and evaluation.
I individualize therapy with warmth, understanding, a dash of good humor and a strong evidence-based therapeutic foundation to help maximize positive change. I approach therapy as a cooperative effort that addresses each person holistically and integrates knowledge of psychology, biology, physical health and social well-being.
My doctoral degree is in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arizona (UA) and involved comprehensive training and course-work in assessment, therapy, teaching and clinical research. I completed my clinical internship at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System. Throughout and following my broad training I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples with a wide range of concerns in many settings including medical clinics, inpatient hospitals, vocational/educational programs, prison, and group-homes. In addition I have taught a number of psychology courses at the UA and UA South (Sierra Vista).
I am also currently employed at El Rio Community Health Center where I collaborate with primary care providers to help patients in many domains including chronic illness, chronic pain and sleep.
My private office is centrally located near the UA in the Saguaro Clinic.
I offer daytime, evening and weekend hours and currently accept self-pay with sliding scale and United Healthcare insurance.
